Why this Hike

This hike set up to honour the Women from Hahndorf who helped the people of Adelaide by supplying them with fresh produce. The trail which follows part of the Heysen Trail before following the South Eastern Freeway is a fantastic adventure not far from the city and can be done in one day or split up over two (unfortunately no overnight camping).

Track Notes & Overview

Starting at Adelaide Hills Visitor Information Centre in Verdun this hike follows Mount Barker Road before turning left onto Oak Avenue and then right onto Osterley Avenue before turning down Heath Avenue to link up with a section of the Heysen Trail. Follow the trail all the way until the Stirling Golf Club where you turn off onto Davenport Road and right at Old Carey Gully Road, follow this road under the freeway and then turn right onto Old Mount Barker Road follow this road as it runs parallel to the freeway and leave it to keep following the freeway onto Pomona Road. Keep walking along the high way joining a track after the roundabout under the freeway again and onto main street before continuing to follow the freeway using Beela Track. Keep walking as it becomes Mireen Track before coming out onto Old Bullock Track, follow this track and continue walking as it joins the Pioneer Womens Walking Trail until reaching the end at Brock Reserve.
