Why this Hike

Taking you from the Botanical Gardens Visitor Centre to the Top of Black Mountain this walk is an adventure while remaining close to Canberra. This walk that is often referred to as the Flower to Tower walk because of its journey from Botanical Gardens to Telstra Tower at the top of Black Mountain is a fun adventure close to the city which requires you to make some steep climbs. The walk is well marked but rather challenging in sections so make sure to come prepared.

Track Notes & Overview

This walk starting from the Botanical Gardens Visitors Centre will take you through parts of  the gardens such as the Rainforest Gully and the Rock Garden showing off two very different kinds of Australian plant life on show. Past these areas and through the Rock Garden Lawn, you will continue to walk along the summit walk marked with green trail markers that feature a tower symbol on them, As you pass a pedestrian gate and leave the Botanical Gardens the climb up Black Mountain begins. Keep following this marked track until reaching the tower where you can choose to climb the tower itself or admire the view from the carpark before returning back down to the Visitor Centre to complete the hike.
